The Kansas City Royals (96-68) and Detroit Tigers (103-61) are divisional champions.  The Tigers will have home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

The Arizona Diamondbacks (93-71) are the Ted Williams Conference Wild Card.

The Chicago Cubs have been awarded the Wild Card Playoff spot. Although, the Arizona Diamondbacks had a better won-loss record, Aizona's management requested that the Chicago Cubs be awarded the wild card due to player overusage by the Diamondbacks.
